The Plot: A doomed female hitchhiker pulls Mike Hammer into a deadly whirlpool of intrigue, revolving around a mysterious “great whatsit.”

Comments: This is the only thing I’ve seen with Ralph Meeker, but he is perfect as the sleazy anti-hero.  Great Los Angeles locations as well.  This movie seemed way ahead of its time to me. On top of everything, you get to see where both Steven Spielberg and Quentin Tarantino copied some of their classic scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Pulp Fiction.
